Motivating students to answer questions correctly

When using Sumdog, students are encouraged to answer questions to the best of their ability. In order to motivate students to answer questions correctly, they are rewarded a coin for each correct answer.

If a question is answered incorrectly, students will be asked to 'Try again' and select another answer. This will continue until the correct answer is selected.

Coins will only be rewarded if the student answers the question correctly on their first attempt, discouraging students to purposefully select incorrect answers. Similarly, only the first attempt answer will count towards the student's progression on that skill.

Once a question is answered correctly, students will be able to continue with the game. This encourages students to think carefully before answering the question and make them aware of why they're giving that answer.

At the end of the game, students will be presented with the correction screen, recapping the questions they got wrong and displaying the correct answer.
